OK, so you didn’t win the $640 million Mega Millions jackpot Friday, but double-check those tickets because six of them sold in Georgia are worth $250,000 to the lucky holders, according to lottery officials.

The $250,000 tickets were purchased in Atlanta, Marietta, Athens, Ellabell, Hendersonville and Waco, Georgia Lottery spokeswoman Tandi Reddick reported Saturday.

An additional 48 tickets sold in Georgia will shower the holders with $10,000 checks, Reddick said. Many other lottery players have won prizes ranging from $2 to $150.

The winning numbers in Friday night's drawing were 02-04-23-38-46, and the Mega Ball 23.

The $250,000 winners matched five white balls but not the Mega Ball, according to Reddick. The $10,000 winners matched four white balls and the Mega Ball.

Many of the $10,000 tickets were purchased in the metro area: Atlanta (3), Alpharetta (2), Gainesville (2), Acworth, Conyers, Cumming, Carrollton, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Duluth, Forest Park, Newnan, Sandy Springs, Marietta, McDonough, Stockbridge, Stone Mountain, Tucker, Braselton and Hampton.

Other $10,000 tickets were sold in Augusta (2), Brunswick, Cave Spring, Colquitt, Columbus, Donaldsonville, Garden City, Hartwell, Jesup, Kingsland (2), Lavonia, Leesburg, Lyerly, Martinez, Midway, Savannah, Tallapoosa (2), Trion, Waco and Warner Robins (2).

Prizes can be claimed at any lottery district office or at Georgia Lottery's headquarters, 250 Williams St., Suite 3000, in Atlanta.

Lottery officials were still waiting Saturday for the Mega Millions jackpot winners to come forward. The tickets were purchased in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland. Each winning ticket was expected to be worth more than $213 million before taxes.

According to an Illinois lottery spokesman, the winning ticket in that state was sold in the small town of Red Bud, near St. Louis, and the winner used a quick pick to select the numbers. The Maryland Lottery said it sold a winning ticket at a retail store in Baltimore County. And the third ticket was sold in northeast Kansas.

Reddick said Georgians spent $62.2 million to play in the Mega Millions lottery from the time it rolled over Jan. 27 through Friday. Nearly half of that amount, $28.77 million, was spent Friday.

According to the Associated Press, Americans spent nearly $1.5 billion for a chance to hit the jackpot.
