Georgia State restructures counseling center
Georgia State University eliminated nine staff clinical positions in the University Counseling and Testing Center and has instead outsourced mental health programs for students.
Six people were laid off earlier this month while the other three eliminated positions were vacant, college spokeswoman Andrea Jones said.
The change did not disrupt services for students, she said.
Outsourcing these programs is projected to save $160,000 a year and provide students with access to more licensed providers and more tailored services, she said.
