Fayette County has issued an update on the repaving project that is affecting traffic flow on its main east-west artery.

In a memo sent to County Administrator Steve Rapson and other officials on May 30, County Engineer Phil Mallon said that the Georgia Department of Transportation is aware of traffic signal timing problems along Hwy. 54 between Fayetteville and Peachtree City. GDOT is reportedly making a list of the affected areas so that its Traffic Operations department can make adjustments, although no schedule for the tweak was announced.

Resurfacing has been hampered by bad weather, but Mallon said the contractor plans to resume work in downtown Fayetteville from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on June 1-4, which will involve temporary lane closures.
