Gateway Community Improvement District officials in Marietta are undertaking their first major project which will involve landscaping both of the Interstate 75 exits in the CID - Delk Road and South Marietta Parkway.

Winter Design, who also worked with the Town Center CID in Kennesaw and Cumberland CID, designed the landscaping.

Strategic City Partners is the administrator of Gateway CID which was founded in mid-2014 to redevelop the Franklin Road/Gateway corridor to accommodate more office space.

A Community Improvement District is a self-taxing district established by property owners to improve local infrastructure and public safety and give property owners more control. CIDs are managed by a seven-person board of directors who are selected by other property owners.

Funding for the landscaping will come from the taxes received from Gateway Marietta CID property owners in 2014 at $209,444, in 2015 at $274,216 and an anticipated $275,793 this year.

Work is planned to begin this fall.
