The Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved $5,363,958 in contracts with 105 different non-profit groups.
A committee of 37 people formed what the county said was a non-biased system to pick who got money from the CSP, or Community Services Program, budget.
There was some disagreement over how the money was disbursed, but Chairman Robb Pitts said commissioners shouldn’t get involved.

Commissioner Natalie Hall said the process hasn’t always been followed and there has been commissioner interference.
“Some of us would be in orange jumpsuits soon” if they did meddle with how public money was spent, Pitts said.
The commission approved the item unanimously.

The organizations, from all over Fulton, fit into five categories: economic stability/poverty, senior services, children/youth, homelessness and disabilities.
The selected groups include everything from $85,000 for North Fulton Child Development Association to Raksha Inc., which got $25,000 to fund housing assistance for South Asian survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
