Gas prices climbed 10 cents in the Atlanta area during the last week, according to websites that track the price of fuel.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.55, according to AAA's "Daily Fuel Gauge Report."

The average price was $3.45 a week ago.

A month ago, the price was about the same as it is today.

A year ago, a gallon of gas could be had for $2.53, according to the website.

Atlantagasprices.com cites similar numbers.

According to that site, the cheapest gas can be found at the Sam's Club in Tucker -- $3.36 a gallon.

The highest price listed is $3.99 per gallon at multiple intown locations.

Earlier this year, in April, the average was almost $4 per gallon.

The highest fuel prices in the last six years were, according to gasbuddy.com, in the fall of 2008. Then, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $4.13.

After that peak, average prices in the Atlanta area plummeted to a 6-year low of $1.45 per gallon by 2009.
