Friday is last day for DeKalb’s curbside Christmas tree removal

The 12 days of Christmas are far from over and many DeKalb residents have yet to dispose of their live trees. Friday is the last day for County Public Works Department’s Sanitation Division to pick it up curbside.

The service, initiated on Dec. 26, 2014 and sponsored by Keep DeKalb Beautiful, a unit of the Sanitation Division, converts all trees into mulch.

To participate, residents must remove all decorations from trees and place them curbside on their regularly-scheduled recycling day. Trees lengths must be 7 feet or less, and trees that cannot be cut down to the appropriate size may be taken to Seminole Landfill or collected by special collections (fees may apply).
