A DeKalb County commissioner wants to give local businesses more tools to succeed.
Hosted by Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, the DeKalb County Business Summit on March 12 will include free workshops focused on infrastructure, public safety, tax allocation districts, overlay districts and opportunity and empowerment zones, Cochran-Johnson’s office announced Monday.
Many business owners, the commissioner said, are unaware of the county resources available to them.
“It is my goal to create an atmosphere that allows DeKalb businesses the freedom to grow and thrive,” Cochran-Johnson said in a statement.

Representatives from Decide DeKalb, Operation HOPE, the county’s planning and zoning department and the code compliance division will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources to business owners.
The summit is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 12 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, located at 2500 Clairmont Road.
Attendance is limited to two people per DeKalb business license. Registration is required, though the summit is free to attend.
