A Gwinnett County grand jury indicted four people Thursday in connection with an illegal gambling scheme that was operating out of a Tucker restaurant last year.

Those indicted in the case were bar owner Min Sook Kim, along with Adrian K. Holmes, Abdul Haleem Shakoor, Roemon Jaquire Williams, and Jacqueline Shakoor. Police initially arrested a total of 14 people in March 2009 at Pufferbelly’s Bar and Grill on Lawrenceville Highway.

Investigators who conducted surveillance there allegedly found slot machines and a live poker game.

Six soldiers were honored, each receiving Meritorious Service Medals, Thursday for heroic actions responding to the shooting at Fort Stewart. “One of the things I can say unequivocally is that the fast action of these soldiers — under stress and under trauma and under fire — absolutely saved lives from being lost,” U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told reporters as the six soldiers stood near him Thursday. “They are everything that is good about this nation.” (Hyosub Shin/AJC)
