A second public hearing on a proposed reduction in the speed limit for a section of Canton Highway (Ga. 20) near Cumming is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, before the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

The hearing will begin at 5 p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room, Suite 220, of the county Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming, according to a web notice: https://bit.ly/2K3DBA9

The public will have a chance to review and comment on the proposal to reduce from 50 to 45 mph the speed limit on Ga. 20, from a point 634 west of Carla Drive to North Corners Parkway (the west city limits of Cumming), a distance of about 2.5 miles.

Speed limits for Ga. 20 are 55 mph west of Carla to the Cherokee County line, and 45 mph east of North Corners, dropping to 35 and 25 mph the closer one gets to downtown Cumming, according to a county list of roadways. To view the speed limits: https://bit.ly/2KGhAb7
