Two free workshops to educate Forsyth County citizens about the Adopt-A-Stream program to protect and monitor local waterways are set for the coming weekends in Cumming.

The workshops are sponsored by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, a Keep America Beautiful affiliate. They are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 and 13, at Cumming City Hall, 100 Main St.

The workshops are suitable for people from third grade and up, though any child under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, according to a Forsyth County announcement. The first workshop will cover macroinvertebrate assessment, and the second, chemical/bacterial certification.

“The workshops may involve getting wet, so participants are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and clothing,” the announcement said.

Upon completion of each workshop, participants will receive a certificate from Georgia Adopt-A-Stream that allows citizens to report water quality data anywhere in the state of Georgia. To register, contact KFCB at 770-205-4573 or: www.keepforsythcountybeautiful.org
