The Forsyth County Department of Engineer will host a “virtual open house” where residents can view plans and comment on proposed Ga. 9 improvements.

Feedback will be accepted through May 25 through the project's website, https://bit.ly/2SWYv8g The study covers the Ga. 9 corridor from Ga. 306 to Ga. 369 in the Coal Mountain area.

A joint project of the county and Atlanta Regional Commission, the study seeks to identify patterns and impacts of future growth; understand the community’s vision for the corridor; confirm the need for a road widening to four lanes; and establish a timeline for short- and long-term improvements, officials said.

“While this segment of Ga. 9 serves about 10,000 vehicles a day, projections into the future suggest that traffic and development growth will continue and result in over 25,000 vehicles a day,” said John Cunard, Forsyth’s director of engineering. “We know there is a great deal of interest in this project, and we are glad to have this opportunity to hear from residents and provide them with an update.”
