The Forsyth County Fire Department is accepting applications for the Spring 2020 edition of the Citizens’ Fire Academy, a 10-week course that gives residents an inside look at firefighting.
“The academy is truly a unique chance for citizens to get a behind-the-scenes look at their fire department and the services we provide to protect them each day,” said Fire Chief Barry Head. “Not only will participants get a hands-on learning experience, but they also will get to interact with first responders.”
The academy will be held on 10 consecutive Tuesdays, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., March 3 to May 12 (with April 7 off for spring break), at Fire Department Headquarters at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex, 3520 Settingdown Road.
Applicants must be Forsyth residents at least 25 years old, willing to make a 10-week commitment to the program and with no prior felony convictions, officials said. Enrollment is limited on a first-come, first-served basis pending a successful background check.
The deadline to apply is Feb. 10. Information: Bridgette Butynski, 770-205-5699. To apply: https://bit.ly/2QPOLe2
