A Forsyth County man has been charged with abusing his three-week-old daughter.
Jeffery Andrew Silver, 36, was arrested Thursday on one county of aggravated battery. Additional charges could be filed, according to the Forsyth Sheriff’s office.
Authorities did not release details of the infant’s abuse. According to investigators, the baby was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite after a visit with a local pediatrician.
The baby “sustained injuries consistent with child abuse,” Forsyth sheriff’s investigators said. The baby remains hospitalized but has non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
Silver remains in the Forsyth County jail awaiting his first court appearance. No bond has been set.
Authorities did not arrest the mother of the baby but did take a 2-year-old girl into protective custody.
The Department of Family and Children’s Services also is investigating the incident.
