The Forsyth County Ethics Panel will hold a meeting 10:30 a.m. May 5 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming to determine whether to move forward with an ethics complaint against District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills.

The complaint filed by resident Rene Guidry claims Mills violated the Georgia Open Records Act multiple times by deleting text messages among her, developers involved with pending zoning issues, other county commissioners and zoning attorneys.

The board will review the complaint to determine whether there’s credible evidence to support the a “reasonable belief” that the ethics code has been violated. If not, the complaint will be dismissed. If sufficient evidence is found, a hearing will be held with time, date and place to be determined later.

Mills described the complaint as “bogus” in an email but refused to comment further.
