A student at DeKalb County’s Stone Mountain High School was shot at a bus stop Tuesday morning, police say.

The DeKalb County Police Department said it responded to a reported shooting around 7:51 a.m. at Stone Mill Drive and Juliette Road. A spokesperson for the department said the patient had minor injuries and that police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The DeKalb County School District said the school administration and the district’s division of public safety are also investigating the matter.

“We are also continuing to reinforce expectations for safe and appropriate student behavior on campus, at bus stops, and during student transportation,” the district said in a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “DCSD encourages families to speak with their children about the importance of making positive choices, resolving conflicts appropriately, and reporting concerns to school staff.”
