Former NFL player takes child support fight to top court
Former NFL player Travis Henry is taking his child support fight to Georgia's highest court.
Henry's lawyer Randall Kessler filed an appeal with the state supreme court Wednesday seeking to reverse a DeKalb County Superior Court order to put $250,000 in a trust fund for a son in Lithonia.
DeKalb Judge Clarence Seeliger ordered the trust after the boy's mother sought it, concerned that Henry's extravagant lifestyle and numerous other children – he had nine at the time -- might drain his pocketbook before he fulfilled his child support obligations.
It's been a tough year in court for the former Denver Broncos running back.
This summer, he was sentenced to three years in prison by a federal judge after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine. Then, last month, he lost his appeal to the Georgia Court of Appeals in the trust fund case.
