A former Georgia Tech student has been fined and sentenced to probation after admitting to illegally logging into the school's computer system and changing his grades.

Shayan Panjwani pleaded guilty in Fulton County Superior Court Wednesday to two counts of computer trespass, and was sentenced by Judge Karen Woodson under the First Offender Act to two years probation and fined $1,000.

Prosecutors said that last July, Panjwani accessed Georgia Tech's grading system without authorization and inflated his grades in two classes.

A graduate student noticed the discrepancy and reported it to school officials, according to Lauren Kane, a spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's office.

When confronted, Panjwani confessed, Kane said. He is no longer enrolled at Georgia Tech.
