More than 100 guests were evacuated from a downtown Atlanta hotel early Monday after the heating unit in a room caught fire.

One employee of the Holiday Inn on Andrew Young International Boulevard was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.

The hotel’s sprinkler system contained the small fire to the unoccupied third-floor room where it began shortly after 2 a.m.

Atlanta fire Battalion Chief David Rhodes told Channel 2 Action News that the hotel sustained some smoke damage up to the fifth floor and water damage on the second floor.

The 125 hotel guests were allowed back inside the hotel after about 45 minutes.
