Fire damages dental office in Buford

Sept 28, 2011

Gwinnett firefighters battled a blaze that seriously damaged a Buford dental office Tuesday night.

Crews responded to the fire at Sugar Hill Smiles in the 4900 block of Alton Tucker Boulevard NE just before 9 p.m. after a passerby saw the flames and alerted authorities, Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

The fire caused heavy damage to the roof and attic of the building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Rutledge said.

The office was not open Tuesday, but patients were scheduled for Wednesday, Rutledge said. The owner was at the scene and said patients would be notified and the business has a second office nearby.
