The Fayette County Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution Monday that recognizes the achievements of 2016 U.S. Olympic medalist Christian Taylor.

Taylor, a graduate of Sandy Creek High School, won a gold medal in the triple jump and also holds the current world championship in that event.

The resolution commends Taylor for his “diligence, hard work, and his effort to positively impact the students of Fayette County.” His former kindergarten teacher, Marcia Glass of Robert J. Burch Elementary, accepted the certificate on his behalf.

Taylor recently visited with students at Burch and Sandy Creek before returning to competition.
