Fayette aims to reduce duplicate appointees

To reduce duplication and increase diversity, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners will now “make every effort” to avoid appointing the same individual to more than one county authority, board, commission or committee, except when expressly permitted by local or state law. The change to County Policy 100.19 was approved 4-1 on Sept. 22, and includes a revision stating that the entire board, not just the chairman, will be responsible for naming two commissioners to the selection committees. However, since other local entities are responsible for appointing certain committees, some duplication may still occur.
