A father ran down three flights of stairs with his 2-week-old baby after a fire spread through his Marietta apartment complex.

Chris McKinney and his family only had seconds to escape the blaze at the Laurel Hills Preserve on Bells Ferry Road, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The fire started in a top-floor unit next to McKinney’s apartment, the news station reported.

His neighbor banged on his door and urged him to get out.

“I got my baby out before the fire really got bad,” he told Channel 2.

Marietta firefighters were able to contain the flames to one unit, but other apartments had smoke and water damage.

Investigators said they are working to determine what caused the fire.
