More than a month after he was reported missing, a southwest Atlanta man was found brutally beaten to death behind a nearby home, police said.
Now the man's family and Atlanta police are asking for help in finding those responsible for killing 50-year-old Marvin Simmons, Channel 2 Action News reported Monday.
Marvin Simmons was reported missing Jan. 6, and his body was found Feb. 22, police previously said.
It was a smell that led police to find Marvin Simmons' body covered with tree branches and left behind a house the 1300 block of Wichita Drive, eight down from his own, according to police.
“Marvin died of blunt force trauma," Detective Kevin Otts told Channel 2. "Somebody was up close and personal. And he suffered a lot of trauma to the head and a broken arm, which we believe was a defensive wound.”
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
