Kody Smith said his assignment was to “draw a picture of what you see in the clouds from your imagination.”

“That picture is a gun,” he beamed as he held up the artwork.

But KKTV reports Talbot Elementary school just outside Colorado Springs was not as proud.

The school labeled Kody’s drawing as “disruptive to the school,” it resulted in him being reprimanded and a behavior report being filed.

The school went on to say their actions were "in line with routine procedures" and promised the report would not be a part of the boy's permanent record.

That wasn’t good enough for Kody’s mother.
"He was doing exactly what he was told to do for the assignment,”Angel Rivers said.
His father, Jeff Smith agreed. “It hurts that he was so scared for being penalized for his imagination.”
What do you think? Was the school out of line or justified in their reaction? Please leave your thoughts in our comment's section below.
