Dunwoody will present three public hearings for taxpayers on the recent revaluation of real property tax assessments. The council will consider setting the millage rate for real estate at 2.74 mills, preserving the same mill rate since the city’s incorporation in 2008. The first two meetings take place at 8 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Monday June 6 at Dunwoody City Hall, 41 Perimeter Center East. There will be a third and final public hearing at 6 p.m. June 13 at Dunwoody City Hall. The last public hearing will be followed by a vote on a tax rate for Fiscal Year 2016.

The city received notice of its fourth year-over-year increase in the real and personal tax digest for 2016 as a result of the revaluation of real property tax assessments performed by the DeKalb County Tax Assessor’s office. By keeping the millage rate at 2.74 mills, Dunwoody property owners may see an increase or a decrease in their real estate taxes in 2016, depending on whether individual property gained or lost value this year. The city does not have direct control or influence over the valuations of the tax assessor’s office.
