What does Thursday's verdict mean for Hemy Neuman?

Under Georgia law, a conviction of "guilty but mentally ill" still means a life prison sentence and he won’t be considered for parole for at least 30 years. The difference between a simply "guilty verdict" and a "guilty but mentally ill" verdict is that the prison system will be required to provide him with mental health services.

The sentencing portion of the trial was to take place this afternoon.
