Only long time Duluth residents might remember Spring Street. Today, the remains of the downtown street are part of a parking lot drive aisle off Hill Street that provides parking for the city’s festival center and nearby restaurants. The .327-acre area of Spring Street, along with a .171-acre intersecting unnamed 30-foot alley have been removed from the city’s municipal street system.

According to the city’s resolution to remove the streets, both areas “have ceased to be used by the public to such an extent that no substantial public purpose is accomplished by leaving the street and alley open to the public as part of the municipal street system.”
