The Duluth City Council voted May 11 to award funding for the separation and demolition on ‘The Block.’ The city received six bids for the work to include weatherization of exposed surfaces on separated buildings, demolition, debris removal, site stabilization, and resource recovery.

The contract is awarded to TOA LLC of Norcross for $137,000 with two alternate plans included. Alternate No. 1 will salvage the granite block facade on the old City Hall Administration Building. Alternate No. 2 will deliver the demolished wall of the New Dawn Building to the Railroad Museum. A ten percent contingency of $13,702 was also approved for a total bid of $150,722.
