The Duluth city council adopted a new resolution in March to add stormwater charges to real estate property tax bills. At this month’s city council meeting, the city amended city code to reflect new dates for when interest and penalties will apply.
Property owners will be charged a penalty or late charge when bills go unpaid 90 days after the due date in the amount of 10 percent of the base amount due. In addition to the penalty, interest in the amount of one percent per month will accrue on all unpaid amounts beginning Dec. 16 of the year the payment is due.
