Driver killed on I-85 identified

Sept 1, 2010A motorist was killed before daybreak Tuesday after he got out his car and was struck by another vehicle on I-85 northbound south of Atlanta.
The man, identified as Ted Harper, 73, had apparently stopped at the scene where a tractor-trailer had caught fire across the median in the southbound lanes near Flat Shoals Road, just outside I-285.
The incidents shut down all lanes of I-85 in both directions for more than an hour.
Authorities reopened two southbound lanes just before 6:30 a.m., and had one northbound lane open around 7 a.m.
All lanes reopened about 8 a.m.
