It's a case of "he said, he said," but a construction worker flagging traffic in Sandy Springs and a motorist were both charged Friday when each blamed the other after the worker was struck by the driver's Porsche.

The flagger, Peter Statia, said he was directing traffic around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Long Island and Lake Forrest drives when Denis Reggie intentionally drove toward him, striking his arm and running over his foot, according to Sandy Springs police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose.

Reggie, however, told police Statia signaled him to proceed but then charged his vehicle, and when he did so his foot was run over, Rose said.

Rose said there were no independent witnesses at the scene.

The spokesman said Reggie was cited because he left the scene. He was stopped a short while later.

Rose said Statia was charged after Reggie said the construction worker's approach to his car "put him in reasonable fear of being in danger."
