April 5, 2011

Charges have been filed against the driver accused of hitting an Atlanta motorcycle officer over the weekend.

Shannon Coulter was turning left from Centennial Olympic Park Drive onto Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Saturday night in a Nissan Sentra when he struck the motorcycle as it passed through the intersection, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said.

Officer Christopher Niezurawski was released from Grady Memorial Hospital on Monday, Campos said.

Coulter was issued a citation for failure to yield, Campos said.
