Drive-through bandit hits fifth bank

An area bank robber has taken his show on the road.

Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a bank drive-through window in northwest Atlanta Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., police said a white man between the ages of 45 and 50 drove up to the Wachovia Bank at 3330 Northside Parkway.

Authorities said the man sent a device through the pneumatic tube to the cashier, claiming it was an explosive, and demanding money.

The cashier did not comply, and the drive-through bandit drove away in a silver or gold Hyundai Santa Fe with a dealer drive-out tag, police said.

Chuck Williams, a bank security expert with Georgia Association of Bank Security, said this is the fifth attempt the drive-through bandit has made in metro Atlanta in a month.

Twice the man was successful, Williams said, but he slipped up on Wednesday.

"Nobody's been able to capture pictures of him until today," Williams said.

Atlanta police are asking that anyone with information on the man's identity call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
