A drive-up test site for older persons suspected of having contracted the COVID-19 virus opened Monday at Cherokee County government offices in Woodstock.

The Specimen Point of Collection location for the Georgia Department of Public Health is located outside the Cherokee County Health Department office, 7545 Main St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

At this time, testing is not available to the general public and is limited to persons at least 60 years old who show symptoms, according to a county announcement posted to Facebook.

“Persons 60 and older with symptoms of COVID-19 must contact their health care provider to be screened and entered into the Public Health Referral System,” the county said. “They will receive an appointment time and ‘Person Under Investigation’ (PUI) number. Those without a PUI number will not be tested at this time.”
