Dispute shuts down amphitheater's website

In another setback for Fulton County's fledgling outdoor concert venue, someone torpedoed the Wolf Creek Amphitheater website early this week, posting a message saying the site was shut down "due to nonpayment."

A county spokeswoman said the money dispute doesn't involve the county government. It's between the contractor paid to develop the site and a subcontractor who did design work, she said.

"That subcontractor violated their contract agreement and removed content from the website," spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt-Dominguez said in an e-mail. "Fulton County has engaged another contractor to develop a new site."

Corbitt-Dominguez identified the contractor as B Box Media and the subcontractor as LP Media/Epic1 Media. Attempts to reach both companies were unsuccessful Tuesday. The county spent $2,499 on the site, records show.

"Please support your small businesses," said a message which overtook WolfCreekAmphitheater.com late Monday. "We work hard for you."

The south Fulton venue has cost countywide taxpayers nearly $7 million to build, equip and operate. Offerings have been slim during its first year, but the schedule has picked up under a new event coordinator.

The county is currently in a dispute with the promoter of Funk Fest, the most successful event at Wolf Creek to date. Variety Entertainment President Leo Bennett says the county owes him roughly $26,000 for a slew of VIP tickets.

The county contends the tickets went unsold, but Bennett said he has photos of people sitting in those seats.
