DeKalb County Police are hosting a blood drive Wednesday in honor of a fallen officer.

Residents and officers are invited to donate blood between 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Center Precinct at 1960 West Exchange Place in Tucker.

The blood drive is in honor of Officer Dennis Stepnowski, who was shot and killed during a foot chase at a Stone Mountain apartment complex in June 2006. The suspect, who was also died in the shootout, was wanted for a previous murder in Louisiana, police said.

The blood drive is sponsored by the police department’s SWAT Team and the American Red Cross.
