Kroger is closing its 965 N. Hairston Road location in the Stone Mountain area on Oct. 13.

It’s been there for nearly 18 years and has experienced declining sales “over an extended period of time,” the company said in a statement, “and its closure is necessary to make Kroger more competitive in the market.”

All 138 associates who work there are set to be considered for reassignment at other locations as outlined in the company’s collective bargaining agreement, Kroger said.

Kroger representatives will meet associates to discuss reassignments and other options in the coming weeks.

The company suggested the following locations for customers of the North Hairston Road Kroger, which is near Memorial Drive:

  • 1232 S. Hairston Road, Stone Mountain
  • 1227 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain
  • 3959-A Lavista Road, Tucker

Walmart also has a location down the street from the North Hairston Road Kroger.
