DeKalb Superior Court Judge Gregory A. Adams really wants the public to know he’s not running for a seat on the county commission.

In a press release sent Thursday, Sharyn Belisle, a judicial assistant, noted three separate times that the judge is not seeking another office. Belisle explains that Adams has only run for judicial positions and that the judge is “looking forward to continuing to serve the citizens of DeKalb County as a member of the judiciary.”

Belisle declined to comment on the reasons behind this press release.

The Gregory Adams who is running for the DeKalb County Commission District 7 position is the incumbent. Adams, the one who doesn't use a middle initial, is currently facing a civil suit regarding sexual harassment against his former assistant, Ashlee Wright.

Allegations of the sexual harassment came to light in August of 2017. Adams was found to have violated the county's sexual harassment policy by telling Wright that he found her "sexy," requesting photos of her in a bikini and inviting himself to her hotel room at 3 a.m.

Regarding the press release from the judge’s office, the commissioner explained he’s not experienced any mix ups.

Adams was elected DeKalb County District 7 commissioner in December of 2016. He will face Lorraine Cochran-Johnson in a runoff on July 24.
