DeKalb County is encouraging residents learn new ways to conserve water with a hands-on workshop that helps them build rain barrels.

The county Watershed Management department will host the event Wednesday at Wylde Garden Center, 435 Oakview Road, near Decatur. The barrels collect rainwater, which helps with conservation and also reduces water bills.

Cost is $40 and includes all materials needed to make a barrel. The workshop is limited to 20 people.
