DeKalb eyes foreclosure registry

DeKalb County Commissioner Connie Stokes wants residents to know the location of foreclosed homes to protect neighborhoods from blight.

Stokes is pushing the commission to pass a resolution creating a registry of foreclosed residential properties. The registry will help encourage better maintenance and security of foreclosed properties, Stokes said.

On Monday, Stokes will hold a public hearing to explain the registry and take questions. The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Maloof Auditorium in Decatur.

DeKalb ranks third in Georgia for the highest number of foreclosures, behind Fulton and Gwinnett counties, Stokes said.
