DeKalb eyes foreclosure registry

July 15, 2010DeKalb County Commissioner Connie Stokes wants residents to know the location of foreclosed homes to protect neighborhoods from blight.
Stokes is pushing the commission to pass a resolution creating a registry of foreclosed residential properties. The registry will help encourage better maintenance and security of foreclosed properties, Stokes said.
On Monday, Stokes will hold a public hearing to explain the registry and take questions. The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Maloof Auditorium in Decatur.
DeKalb ranks third in Georgia for the highest number of foreclosures, behind Fulton and Gwinnett counties, Stokes said.
