Decatur will present a first draft of its Community Action Plan for review and comment during a public forum 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Decatur Conference Center in the Marriott Courtyard, Ballroom B, 130 Clairemont Ave.

The draft was created from the comments and suggestions of nearly 1,000 Decatur residents, including 250 who attended an August workshop. The document tackles a broad spectrum of community differences in, among others, culture, race, age, politics and economic resources, while suggesting the roles of individuals, community organizations and the city government in shaping solutions.

The city hopes to produce a final draft by year’s end or early next year. Earlier this year city commissioners approved a $109,000 contract for the Art of Community to help develop the action plan.
