Roads may not reopen until the end of the week after debris fell from a downtown Atlanta tower for a third consecutive day, police said.

“It is our understanding that work has begun on the building,” Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday. “At this time, we do not anticipate the roads reopening until Friday.”

In a Twitter post, police urged people to avoid the area near Woodruff Park.

Debris continued to fall Tuesday from the 32-story building at 34 Peachtree Street, police said in the post. At least one metal tile fell Sunday and about five additional pieces of debris fell Monday from the building. Police did not specify how much debris fell Tuesday, but attributed the issue to high winds.

Closures were reported on Peachtree Street at Auburn Avenue, Walton and Wall streets; Marietta Street at Broad Street and Park Place; and Edgewood Avenue at Peachtree Center Avenue.

Tuesday’s damage did not lead to any injuries or any additional closures.
