A wrong-way driver in a deadly 2010 accident pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular homicide and driving while drunk.

Manuel Rivera hit and killed Steven Naraine in the early morning of April 25, 2010, when Rivera drove northbound in the southbound lane of I-85, officials said.

Authorities said Rivera drove his BMW onto the wrong lane near Shallowford Road in DeKalb County and in less than a quarter of a mile collided with Naraine's Lexus in the center lane.

Naraine's car was then hit by two more cars before coming to a stop, authorities said.

At the time of the wreck, Rivera's blood-alcohol content was .216 -- nearly three times the legal limit, authorities said. He also was on bond for an August 2009 arrest for driving drunk and fleeing police, DeKalb County court officials said.

Rivera also pleaded guilty to driving without a license and was given a 16-year sentence, and will serve 12 years in prison, court officials said.
