The city of Cumming utilities department said it will extend its high-efficiency toilet rebate program to multi-family customers (apartment, town home and condo communities) effective Aug. 1.

The program has been offered to individual homeowners for several years. Under it, when property owners or managers change out less efficient bathroom fixtures for Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense toilets — using 1.28 gallons or less per flush — they can qualify to receive a $100 rebate per toilet. Since the individual homeowner program began in 2010, the city has handed out more than $15,000 in rebates.

The new multi-family residence program will apply to communities dating from 1993 or earlier, and will be capped at 50 toilets per service address per year. Information: cityofcumming.net
