In the second carjacking turned violent in recent days in metro Atlanta, armed bandits robbed a couple on a Decatur street, shooting the woman, beating the man and stealing their truck, police said.

The latest incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the 300 block of North McDonough Street, police said.

A man and a woman visiting the Atlanta area from St. Simons Island were returning to their pickup truck, which was parked on the street, when they were confronted by two males, police said.

The attackers struck the man several times and shot the woman once in the lower abdomen, then drove off in the couple's truck, police said.

The woman was taken to DeKalb Medical Center and was expected to recover from her wounds, police said. She remained in the hospital Monday. The man was not seriously injured.

Police on Monday were seeking the suspects and the truck, a red 2004 Toyota Tacoma with Georgia tag BJQ 6805. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call the Decatur Police Department, 404 373-6551.

Friday, DeKalb County police arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a carjacking that resulted in a man being shot and a woman sexually assaulted.

A woman working at a Buckhead business was being given a ride home from her boss late Thursday night when two armed suspects approached their Infiniti at Canberra Drive and Devon Way, forced their way in and drove the victims to several ATMs.

When the man tried to escape, he was shot in the back, Channel 2 Action Newsreported. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Police later found the car on Panola Road with the woman inside, and she told officers she had been sexually assaulted. A second suspect was being sought.

Separately, on Friday morning, a man in his early 20s tried to force a woman into her Chevrolet Tahoe in a Target parking lot on Cobb Parkway in Marietta, police said. The woman grabbed her young child from the back seat and escaped, and the man drove away in her SUV.
