The Beacon, a weekly tabloid that covered the north Fulton cities, has ceased publication. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy this month, and after a creditor refused to negotiate, Publisher John Fredericks said he had no choice but to stop printing.
Fredericks said The Beacon had a circulation of about 10,000, a mix of paid subscribers and free trials, but never recovered from the recession. He said he will keep updating the subscription-only Web site, retaining as many employees as he can, for as long as the court will allow. JOHNNY EDWARDS
