Cobb water authority gives Canton time to sweeten offer
The Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority Board of Directors on Monday signaled the City of Canton that if it wants to unload its 25% stake in the Hickory Log Creek Reservoir it will take a better offer to Cobb than the one on the table. Canton through a “memorandum of understanding” offered Cobb, which has a 75% stake Hickory Log, full ownership. In exchange, Cobb assumes Canton’s $27 million debt to build it, and Canton retains the right to take 6 million gallons of water a day from the reservoir when it opens in 2012. The board wants a sweeter deal. Jeffry Scott
