East Cobb pool to open after renovation
East Cobb’s Sewell Park Pool, 2085 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, will reopen after a $650,000 renovation. A ribbon cutting will be 3:30 p.m. Friday and the public pool opens for the season Thursday.
The SPLOST project included updating the main pool and deck and replacing two smaller pools with a splash pad water feature, new bath house and filter room.

Suwanee concert salutes veterans
Suwanee will host a Memorial Day weekend concert featuring patriotic and big band sounds at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Town Center stage. Weather permitting, members of Silver Wings, the Command Exhibition Parachute Team of the U.S. Army Infantry based at Fort Benning, will land in the park shortly after 7 p.m. Blankets, chairs, and picnics welcome. Cherokee water, sewer utility to relocate
The Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority will be closed on Monday as it moves from 391 W. Main St., Canton, to 140 W. Main downtown. During the closure, payments can still be made online or put in the drive-through night depository at 140 W. Main. For water outages and emergencies: 770-479-2911. Normal business hours resume Tuesday at 8 a.m. CCWSA officials say the move will provide expanded digs (in a former Regions Bank building) for the agency’s 175 employees.

‘Smart Meters’ ready for installation
Decatur’s new parking meters, or “smart meters,” have arrived, with installation scheduled for early June, after the city’s Memorial Day arts festival.
A total 35 multi-space pay kiosks and another 48 single-head meters – used in blocks of low-volume parking – will cover Decatur’s 315 on-street downtown parking spaces.
All meters take debit, credit and coins (no bills) and eventually residents can purchase a reloadable smart card, like a MARTA breeze card.

Animal shelter offers reduced adoption fees
DeKalb County Animal Services is offering special adoption rates during May.
Adoption fees for dogs six months and older are $20, and $10 for cats. All animals will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Regular screening criteria will apply to ensure the animals are going to good homes.

Henry
Memorial Day service planned for Henry park
Henry County’s annual Memorial Day service will be 11 a.m. May 26 at the Veterans Wall of Honor in McDonough’s Heritage Park. There will be a presentation of the colors by the Ola AFJROTC Color Guard, a ceremonial wreath laying and music from bagpipe and bugle. The keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Army Lt. Col.
