Urban League offers retail training
The Urban League of Greater Atlanta in partnership with Macy’s will offer a Retail Training and Professional Certification class starting Sept. 24 through Oct. 8.
The three-week class will be 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Participants will earn certification in customer service from the National Retail Federation.

The Fulton County school board has scheduled monthly community meetings: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Roswell North Elementary (District 1); 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Webb Bridge Middle (District 2); 6 p.m. Monday 17 at Camp Creek Middle (District 4); 9:30 a.m.Tuesday at State Bridge Crossing Elementary(District 5); 6:30 p.m. Monday at Banneker High (District 6); 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dunwoody Springs Elementary (District 7).

Monthly bike ride in Stockbridge
The Mayor’s Community Bike Ride in Stockbridge starts at 6 p.m. today in the parking lot at City Hall. The seven-mile round trip includes 1.5 miles on the Reeves Creek Trail and another two miles through the surrounding neighborhood.
Everyone is asked to wear a helmet for safety purposes.

Henry Parks and Rec hosts photo contest
The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department conducts its annual photography contest, giving amateur photographers a chance to win prizes and have their photos published in the annual calendar and other county publications.
Photos must be taken at a county park or facility of a HCPRD event. More than $400 in prizes are available for winners in three categories. The deadline to enter is Sept. 28. Photographers must be at least 18 years or older to participate.

Emory-Adventist hosts car show fundraiser
Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna in partnership with Jim Ellis Automotive Dealerships will host its first annual Wheels 4 Wellness Car Show noon to 5 p.m. today at the hospital parking lot, 3949 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna.
Car registration or check-in will be 10 a.m. to noon and costs $25. Preregistration is $20 at www.smyrnacares.org. Spectators are free.
The event will have food prepared by Volunteer Auxiliary, face painting, live music and classic cars. All proceeds go towards the purchase of critical needs equipment for the hospital. Kenneth Musisi

Property tax deadlines change
Gwinnett homeowners will have to budget differently once they begin receiving property tax bills this week. Bills have a single due date of Oct. 15, instead of the previous years’ two. Owners may pay on-line, by mail, at tax commissioner office drop boxes or in person at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville.
